When someone is selected to receive the Vigil Honor from the selection committee, do they have a certain time limit to experience their Vigil before they have to be reselected? I cannot find an answer to this question anywhere and I was wondering if it was the same as being elected to go through the ordeal and only having one year.

Thank you for your question. On page 32 of the Guide for Officers and Advisers in item #11, it states: “Approved Vigil Honor candidates must be inducted within one year of national office approval. Otherwise they must be removed from the approved list. Their selection and approval must then be reconsidered with the current year’s quota.”
The date of approval is the date on the Vigil certificate that is sent to the lodge.
Also look at item #13 in the same page: “If approved candidates are not inducted, it is very important to notify the director of the Order of the Arrow immediately. Otherwise, they will be considered inducted members of the Vigil Honor, and their petitions will be kept on permanent national file.”
