Overview:
The National Communications Committee is seeking a skilled and dedicated Technical Adviser to join its web team. This individual will provide mentorship and guidance to the team’s youth leaders, fostering their technical skills and development. They will oversee the technical aspects of the OA’s web presence, including new development, updates, maintenance, and troubleshooting of systems, primarily using the Drupal web content management service. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in a range of web technologies. The Technical Adviser will report to the web team lead and adviser, collaborating closely to ensure alignment of technical initiatives with team goals and priorities. The commitment for this role is approximately 3 hours per week; commitment may be more or less involved depending on the current tasks that week. Team collaboration takes place asynchronously using the Slack, and Asana work environments; regularly scheduled monthly team meetings occur along with video conferences as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a mentor and technical resource for youth leaders within the team, guiding them in their technical growth and development.
- Advise and guide web team members on technical development tasks.
- Collaborate with team members to plan, execute, troubleshoot, and deploy new features and updates to existing components.
- Ensure regular maintenance of web systems.
- Work closely with the web team lead and adviser to align technical initiatives with organizational goals and objectives.
- Ensure adherence to security protocols and best practices in all development.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Qualifications:
- Experience in web development, with proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Python, Bash, LAMP, Git/GitHub, Drupal, and Azure.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Experience in mentoring and guiding others in technical skill development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to work asynchronously and independently as well as manage multiple priorities
