Indian Village staff update

Since the jamboree moved to the Summit Bechtel Reserve, the OA has utilized the Indian Village as a unique opportunity to reach every participant on a more intimate level. Once again, this interactive, interpretive and hands-on experience resides atop the “Summit of the Summit,” Garden Ground Mountain.

The Indian Village leadership is very excited about its program this year. This area will offer more hands-on activities for visitors, with increased focus on the “wow” moments throughout the Shawnee people’s tribal history. This “trail through time” includes spear throwing, flint knapping, and fire-by-friction. A full overview of what to expect from this enriching experience can be found here.

As the jamboree approaches, staff positions are quickly filling up! Overall, Operation Arrow is over 50% full. If you know of any youth Arrowmen who are interested in staffing the Indian Village, encourage them to reserve their staff position soon. There are only so many slots left, and Operation Arrow leadership is looking for a diversity of knowledge and skills on this staff.

Even if the particular Arrowman is not an expert on American Indian culture, they are invited to apply, especially if they have a strong interest and a willingness to learn. Prospective staff members can visit the Operation Arrow website for more information on Operation Arrow and the Summit website to apply for jamboree staff.
