20/20 Challenge - Callout #1

        NOAC Callout       NOAC 2020

You're viewing an article from the Order of the Arrow's news archives that is over one year old. Please note that this content is presented for reference purposes only. NOAC 2020 is only sixteen months away! Planning has already begun to ensure your lodge members will have the time of their lives. We hope your lodge will consider sending a contingent to the National Conference. The time is now to begin planning for this most exciting event! To assist you with local promotional and recruitment efforts, the 2020 conference committee has created the 20/20 Challenge. This initiative will provide your lodge with a very successful path to Michigan State University on August 3, 2020!! Future updates called CALLOUTS, will include fundraising ideas that have worked, details on what is new for NOAC 2020 and incentives that will interest all lodges.

The first step in planning for the conference is to make sure your lodge members know the date and location. We are excited to return to Michigan State University on August 3-8, 2020. MSU has hosted two prior conferences, including our 100th anniversary NOAC in 2015. Over the coming months, the conference committee will release more information that can be shared with your lodge members.

Next, we encourage all lodges to select a youth and adult NOAC contingent leader. Suggestions on how to select the best leader can be found here: https://oa-bsa.org/article/considerations-contingent-leadership-noac. Over the next few weeks, we encourage you to select your lodge contingent leadership and provide responses to the following questions:

1. The name and e-mail of your Youth Contingent Leader

2. The name and e-mail of your Adult Contingent Adviser

3. The lodge goal of how many youth you plan to bring

4. The lodge goal on how many adults you plan to bring

Please send your responses to the above requests to Greg Moore at @email by April 15, 2019. Moving forward, your contingent leadership will be sent frequent updates on NOAC and the 20/20 Challenge, so please respond promptly to this request.

Finally, in the Order of the Arrow, we ask our adult advisers to facilitate involvement and engagement of youth Arrowmen. Therefore, we ask that every adult who signs up with your lodge for NOAC 2020 also recruit a youth member to attend. Ideally lodges will develop their own incentives to ensure that adults who wish to go with their lodge contingent recruit youth as well. All lodges are strongly encouraged to achieve a high youth to adult ratio as possible, but the lodge must have a 1:1 ratio at a minimum.

The 2020 Conference Committee has established a few key dates for you to keep in mind:

4/15/2019: Lodge contingent leadership and attendance goals completed

8/1/2019: Registration material sent to lodges (Contingent Reservation Information Packet)

10/1/2019: Registration open to lodge contingents & Staff (NOAERS) $100 deposit assessed

We know Michigan State has outstanding facilities, scrumptious food, and exhilarating program opportunities for every lodge. Please take this first step to the 20/20 Challenge. Thank you all.
