New Role of the Section:
The Implementation Process
This program for sections is very new. For that reason, the new role of
the section is being implemented in two phases.
Phase 1: Pilot Program (August 1 - December 27, 1999)
For this phase, section participation is voluntary.
A given section need only try the program if they wish.
Participating sections should conduct one Lodge Assistance
Visit between October 1 and
December 27. (The Section must have the Scout Executive's
approval for the lodge they visit).
Feedback on these visits should be communicated to the region and
to the national Order of the Arrow committee (at the December planning
meeting).
Participating sections should also begin
to utilize the new Section Council of Chiefs
format including the presentations and Roundtable discussions.
Phase 2: Full Implementation (January 2000 on)
After January 1, 2000 the national Order of the Arrow committee will announce what, if
anything, has been changed in the new role of the section program. They
will then make it the new official program for all
sections. This announcement will probably come in
the form of an Operations Update to
Scout Executives and key lodge and section leadership.
The feedback gained from sections
who participate in phase 1 of the program will be carefully taken
into consideration in
determining how the program will be finally implemented in phase 2.
