Founder's Day Festival
Wednesday, August 5, is a day of celebration. Approximately eighty-three years ago, Dr. E. Urner Goodman and Col. Carroll A. Edson founded our Order on the principles of Brotherhood, Cheerfulness, and Service. On Wednesday of the NOAC we will honor our founders with the Founder's Day Festival. The festival is scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m.
The festival will also feature appearances by current and past national OA officers, silk-screening, finals of OA Jeopardy and lots of fun! Arrowmen should plan to buy a NOAC T-shirt or to bring along an extra T-shirt to be silk-screened.
The success of the Founder's Day Festival depends on you, your lodge, and the other lodges at the conference. Come and show what you have to offer in crafts, culture, history, entertainment, or food! Complete the sign-up form enclosed in the April lodge program mailing for your booth/exhibit display. Be sure that your lodge is not left out of the fun and excitement!
Lodges, individuals, or joint lodge/section booths are welcome. You can choose your booth/exhibit according to two themes: Hometown Flavor or Arrowrama. You may choose to include both topics. All exhibits will be judged and ribbon presented for quality of display.
These booth displays are where lodges bring a sample of their hometown for Arrowmen to see and/or taste. Your booth may display whatever your area has to offer in crafts, culture, entertainment, food, etc.
The focus of these exhibits will be innovative Order of the Arrow ideas. Lodges are encouraged to sign-up for an exhibit booth and show Arrowmen from across the country how they operate back home. Show us your camping promotion material, unit election procedure, record keeping, successful lodge programs, etc.
Each lodge wishing to have a booth/exhibit must submit the Founder's Day Festival application form. Be sure to bring any and all materials that you will need for your booth. Tables and a limited number of chairs will be provided at the Founder's Day site. Charcoal fires will be allowed, however they must be on a raised area off the ground. NO ELECTRICITY WILL BE PROVIDED AT THE FOUNDER'S DAY SITE. ONLY LODGES THAT HAVE RETURNED THE FOUNDER'S DAY APPLICATION FORM, COMPLETED AND POSTMARKED BY JUNE 1, 1998, WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR JUDGING.
All Hometown Flavor Booths and Arrowrama Exhibits will be judged during Founder's Day and recognition for booths will be made at the Founder's Day Site.
Individuals are not eligible for the competition. Booth displays will be judged on the following categories:
1. Creativity and appearance
