2012 Service Grant application posted
One of the fourfold purposes of the Order of the Arrow is: "to crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership in cheerful service to others". It is with this spirit of cheerful service to others that the Order proudly continues the matching service grant program.
For 2012, the Order of the Arrow is making available $30,000 in matching grant money to lodges for camp property or service center projects in their local council. The Order will provide up to one-half of the money for a service project with a $5,000 maximum amount granted for any lodge project. Total service project cost is not to exceed $20,000.
All lodges applying for a service grant must be a 2010 Quality Lodge and not have received a grant from the OA in the previous two years (2010 and 2011). The application deadline is October 31, 2011.
See the December 2010 – February 2011 edition of the National Bulletin for descriptions of projects that have been approved in the past. This edition of the National Bulletin showcases projects completed by Kola Lodge of the Longs Peak Council and Chippewa Lodge of the Great Lakes Council.
Applications are available on the OA website. Begin brainstorming with your lodge executive committee and council camping and facilities committees how your lodge might take advantage of this opportunity now!
