2010 Southern Region Chief Interview

2010 Southern Region Chief, Don Combs

How do you feel to be a national officer? What do you find most exciting about the role?

It is a really exciting feeling! It is something that will take awhile to sink in.  I look forward to the chance to impact youths lives and improve our program.

What are you most looking forward to?

I am really looking forward to the NLS, and seeing where the Southern Region can take the new NLS Program.

What are your earliest memories of the OA?

During my Ordeal, wondering about what we had seen in the ceremony and wondering if I could live up to the traditions they had talked about.

What was your first leadership position and what was the greatest lesson you learned from it?

My first leadership position in the OA was Chapter Chief.  I learned that a little bit of effort can go a long way.

What is the coolest thing you've done in Scouting?

I was privileged to attend the World Jamboree and meet scouts from all over the world.

What makes you proudest to be an Arrowman?

Definitely during ArrowCorps5 when I saw all of these guys pulling together at Mark Twain to make sure we got the job done.

What awesome things have you done in the OA?

Honestly the coolest thing was getting to serve at ArrowCorps5, NOAC, NLS, and all the fun activities I have gotten to do. There is no better organization than the OA, and no better place to have fun and make new friends.

What makes the OA so cool?

The guys that are in the organization are what make it so cool and the chance we have to work together and make a difference in peoples lives.
