2008 National Vice Chief Interview

2008 National Vice Chief Ben Stilwill

How do you feel to be a national officer? What do you find most exciting about the role?

I am incredibly excited about the next year. The ability to serve Arrowmen from around the country is an amazing opportunity!

What are you most looking forward to?

Traveling the country and meeting Arrowmen. I am looking forward to helping Arrowmen while gaining new insight on methods and ideas.

What are your earliest memories of the OA?

At my council camp I remember seeing a call-out ceremony that was really cool to me. It was something that I could look up to and it really made the OA something that I wanted to aspire to.

What was your first leadership position and what was the greatest lesson you learned from it?

My first leadership position was Patrol Leader. I learned a lot about working as a team and trusting the team.

What is the coolest thing you've done in Scouting?

In 2005 I was able to see the coolest sun rise when i was sitting on top of the "Tooth of Time" with my OA Trail Crew.

What makes you proudest to be an Arrowman?

The variety of chances, and opportunities, to serve the Boy Scouts of America.

What awesome things have you done in the OA?

OATC was amazing and the things that we did at Philmont were incredible and unique as an arrowman. Building a portage at OAWV was really awesome, we got to smash rocks and have fun. At NOAC 2006, it was awesome to see the excitement of our Order nationwide.

What makes the OA so cool?

The OA is so cool because it offers honored campers a way to continue to serve communities while offering really cool opportunities.
