Alex Gomez was elected in December to serve as the 2007 Southern Region chief. Gomez is an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member of the O-Shot-Caw Lodge of the South Florida Council.

He is from Pembroke Pines, Florida, and attends Florida State University where he is pursuing a dual major in history and political science. Before being elected region chief, Alex was the section chief of S-4S.

Alex said "this year, my most memorable experiences have been at conclaves. Meeting new Arrowmen, training in a diverse array of topics, and just hanging out with brothers from across the country has been a truly awesome experience for me."

After spending the summer attending conclaves, OA Ocean Adventure and OA Trail Crew, Alex said he looking forward to the start NCLS. "I’m most excited about the Region Gatherings. I know that the Southern Region’s Gathering on Sunday will be a fantastic show of good ‘ol fun in brotherhood!"

Outside of Scouting, Alex enjoys community service, outdoor adventure, and being involved with campus activities, including his fraternity, Phi Kappa Tau.
