Where Are They Now?
Russell Cann was the 1995 Southern Region Chief. His youth OA career began in
the Atta Kulla Kulla lodge of Greenville, South Carolina. Prior to serving
as region chief, he was a two-term lodge chief, section vice chief, and section
chief of SR-5. Highlights of his youth service include his time at Camp Old
Indian, where he served on staff for ten years.
After completing his term as region chief, Cann received the Distinguished
Service Award—the Order’s highest honor—at the 1996 NOAC at Indiana University.
Continuing to serve Scouting, Cann serves on the Blue Ridge Council Camping Committee and is the Atta Kulla Kulla adviser to the vice chief of communications.
Cann graduated magna cum laude from the Honors College of the University of
South Carolina in 1998. Professionally, after a stint at Anderson Consulting, he
now serves as the Chief Executive Officer of William Preston &
Associates, a strategic management consulting firm with Fortune 500 and
government clients.
Cann resides in Columbia, South Carolina, where he volunteers as director of
a camp for children living with HIV/AIDS. He enjoys spending time with his
nieces and reading.
