As various awards and activities in the Order of the Arrow are announced, they
will be added on this page. (Policy changes are announced separately
in the occasional Operations Updates, which are issued
as needed.)

Best Practices - Your Ideas from Around the Nation
These ideas were submitted by Arrowmen across the country who have benefited
from both years of experience and trial and error. By sharing these
resources, these Arrowmen hope to share the wisdom they have gained
over the ages. The National Order of the Arrow Committee hopes other
lodges can benefit from this

that have proven successful for lodges in the past.
2011 Event Council Information Packets Posted
The event sites have been updated with the 2011 national events council reservation information packets. These packets include administrative, as well as participant and staff registration information. For the Indian Summer Packet please click here, and for the SummitCorps Packet please click here.
Scout Surge 9/11
Boy Scouts are asked to commemorate those who died on September 11, 2001 by
organizing gatherings for both Scouters and the general public.
2011 Event Sites Launched
Summer camp has ended and you find yourself back at home after an awesome time at the 2010 National Scout Jamboree. You have shared your adventures with fellow Scouts that were unable to attend, but after telling the stories of the all the activities you did fifteen times over, you probably already have started to wonder what your adventures in 2011 will be like! Enter two great programs for summer 2011:
Indian Summer 2011 is a program for dance teams and induction
and ceremonial teams, while SummitCorps - The New River Experience is a service
adventure from the Order of the Arrow, similar to ArrowCorps5 and the OA High Adventure
Programs. Check out the announcement of the Event Sites for these exciting new national events!
2011 Service Grant Form Now Available
Starting in 1999, the National Order of the Arrow Committee has provided
matching
grant money to lodges for camp property or service center projects in their local council.
The application for service grants must be submitted by October 31, 2010 for consideration.

Operation Update: Revised Publications
This operation update details the new editions of the Order of the Arrow Handbook,
Guide for Officers and Advisers (GOA), and
Field Operations Guide (FOG). Reprints of the Handbook will be issued when existing stock is depleted. The new GOA and FOG are presently available for download in the
Publications Section.
SummitCorps - The New River Experience
The National Order of the Arrow Committee is pleased to announce SummitCorps
- The New River Experience - a hybrid of ArrowCorps5 and our OA High
Adventure programs. During July 2011, SummitCorps - The New River Experience
will provide service to the New River Gorge National River in West Virginia. Check out the
announcement on this exciting new national event!

Update to the Troop/Team Representative
Program
Units, chapters, and lodges can effectively use the Troop/Team
Representative program to encourage communication and participation among members.
This announcement details new Troop/Team Representative duties and his focus on
service.
National Trails Day
The Order of the Arrow has teamed up with the American Hiking
Society (AHS) to offer our Scouts and Scouters more opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.
For years, it has been our purpose to enjoy the outdoors as well as be its stewards.

- Troop Promotion Kit
The promotional tools enclosed in this kit are designed to
assist you in planning your troop's attendance at Boy Scout summer camp. Be sure
to use the additional resources provided by your council camping committee. These
Scouters stand ready to assist you in promoting Boy Scout summer camp in your troop.
Announcing the OA
Camp Coordinator
Just in time for your lodge's preparation for summer camp announcing
the OA Camp Coordinator. The OA Camp Coordinator, or OACC, is an Arrowman who cheerfully
serves both the camp and the lodge during the summer. Responsible for the various
lodge programs at camp, the OACC is the "go-to" person for all Order of the Arrow
related questions.
Order of the
Arrow Cub Scout Outreach Support Videos Released
Today the Order of the Arrow released digital versions of the
Cub Scout Outreach Support Videos. This six-part series is in MOV file format and
available for download. Use these videos with new parents and those new to the Cub
Scout program. Checkout the videos now in the
Video Resources section.
OA Wilderness Voyage
Receives Eastern Region 9 Award
The Order of the Arrow received an Eastern Region 9 Honor Award
from the U.S. Forest Service for the Wilderness Voyage High Adventure program contributing
service to the Superior National Forest. The award is presented annually showcasing
the outstanding accomplishments of dedicated employees, retirees, and private citizens.
