Scout Surge 9/11

Boy Scouts are asked to commemorate those who died on September 11, 2001 by organizing gatherings for both Scouters and the general public.  Groups should gather at 8:46 AM on September, 11 2010 and recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

  • Groups can be small or large. Locations can be well known sites chosen for publicity value, or anywhere. Care should be taken for safety concerns and for generating no negative results such as traffic jams, etc.
  • Simple programs can focus on honoring fire fighters, policemen or other public servants.
  • Event could be larger and grander with entertainment, music, and other program elements as coordinators desire.
  • Key elements of the event should include patriotism, the possible use of American flags, and an opportunity to show respect for the victims of 9/11 and their families.
