In Memoriam - Linley J. Collins

Linley J. CollinsOn the morning of Monday, June 27, 2005, fellow Arrowman and Eagle Scout Linley J. Collins was killed in a one car accident in Raceland, LA.  Collins, a native of Houma, LA, was a student at Nicholls State University, majoring in business administration. He was a Vigil Honor member of Chilantakoba Lodge, Southeast Louisiana Council and and served as an assistant Scoutmaster to his troop.

Collins was a past Section Chief for the newly realigned section SR-1 starting in April 2000.  He worked actively encouraging lodges to collaborate together through large Founder's festivals and inner lodge competitions.  Later, while attending the National Planning meeting in December of 2001, he was elected to be the Conference Vice Chief for Camping and High Adventure for the 2002 National Order of the Arrow Conference.  At the 2004 National Order of the Arrow Conference, Collins was a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award.

The Order of the Arrow will surely miss the dedication and enthusiasm Mr. Collins brought with him and the countless hours of service for the betterment of the Order.
